Crowns and Bridges
Teeth with large fillings and/or root fillings are weak and can break when you bite. They can have hidden cracks which can make them tender to bite on. A crown will protect a heavily filled tooth and can be used cosmetically to improve the appearance of your teeth. A crown can be made of porcelain or gold or a combination of porcelain with a metal core.
A bridge is used to replace a tooth where one has previously been extracted. The teeth on either side of the gap are crowned, and a tooth is connected to these to fill the gap. It is permanently cemented in place, unlike a denture which is removable.
